WiMAX in Sri Lanka
ADVERTISEMENTS
Sri Lanka telecom will partner with chipmaker Intel to launch WiMAX in Sri Lanka. WiMAX is a broadband wireless network that is based on the IEEE 802.16 standard which can give greater coverage than Wi-Fi technology. SLT is planning to deploy the WiMAX network across the island within a year once it gets regulatory approval. The WiMAX network will be launched in phases and the first phase will cover metropolitan areas including Colombo, Galle and Kandy and is estimated to cost about US $1 million.

Hello:
I am experiencing problem installing wireless modem. I hope I can detail my problem in this area for comments.
I installed a Netgear WGT624v2. On the day I installed it, my main pcto which the router is connected, 2nd pc with wireless network (Netgera also) card and the laptop wotked well. Next morning, I lost all the connection and could not access internet. After struggling for a long time, I disconnected the router, connectec the DSL model alone and my main PC was able to access the internet. Then went to Netgear website and according to their instruction, I clicked on Bridge Mode PPoE is Not Used). Then follwed the rest of the instructions and reconnected the router back in the loop. To my disappointment, the internet light on the DSL modem will not come on and I could not access the internet again. Becasue of this I could not proceed with the rest of the Netgear set up.
I tried another new router and again the same result. I changed the cables, Network card on the PC still could not make it work. I moved the DSL modem and the wireless router to another PC, but ended with the same result. My friends are trying to help, but no one is able to resolve the problem. Any suggestions? Thanks.
