The latest generation of wireless routers are faster, cheaper and more secure than previous models. Some also come with extended range Wi-Fi that can connect computers up to 300 meters away.
Linksys WRT54GX
The Linksys WRT54GX Wireless-G Broadband router with SRX (Speed and Range eXpansion) technology has decent throughput at short range, average around 28Mbps, but long distance speed is where is excels. There are three adjustable antennas, WPA security an a SPI firewall.

With three antennas sticking out the back, you know this router means business. It’s one of the fastest and uses Smart MIMO technology to monitor for interference from walls and other obstacles. Performance is impressive and it has a simple and straightforward installation.

Belkin
This pre-n is one of the best wireless routers. It works well with both Mac and Windows, offer a simple setup and great range and performance. Compared with the competition, the Belkin is excellent value.
D-Link AirPlus ExtremeG MIMO
This router uses D-Link’s latest Smart Antenna technology to provide greater radio signal coverage, but expects you to use D-Link products to get the best performance. You’re unlikely to get the most from this router without shelling out for expensive D-Link compatible adaptors.

Netcomm NB620w
One of the best features of this router is it has two USB ports for connecting and sharing peripherals like printers and external hard drives across a network. Performance in short distances is above avarage, but drops a lot the further away you move, which is something to consider if you wan to cover a large area.
